Carter CGT-100


Carter has a concept design for a jump takeoff transport aircraft with a 100' diameter rotor and wingspan. Similar in size to the hovering CHT-100, the CGT-100 is less complex mechanically, allowing for a lighter empty weight. And with the capability of jump takeoffs and zero roll landings, the aircraft is still able to operate independently of runways and airports.

Powered by a Pratt & Whitney F135 engine, the CGT-100 has an empty weight of just over 60,000 lbs and a max gross weight of 145,000 lbs. The propellers are located inboard on the wings so that the wings can be hinged just outboard of the props to fold aft. In combination with the 2-bladed rotor, this allows the aircraft to be stowed compactly on ships.
